Catholic Education Week April 30 - May 5
April 30 to May 5, is Catholic Education Week and the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is celebrating with a variety of school events, throughout the week. This year, the theme is Walking Forward Together. See below for a detailed list of school events and activities.
Sister Act Auditions Happening April 28 & 29
Summer Challenge will be hosting auditions for the 2017 production, Sister Act. Audition details and performance information available at summerchallenge.npsc.ca/
SJSH Students Advance to National Science Fair Competition
Congratulations to Chloe Carriere and Caitlin Howard who received a Gold in the Life Sciences field, a $500 scholarship to Nipissing University and the Rotary Senior community impact award ($150) at the North Bay Regional Science Fair this past month. The pair will also represent North Bay in the National Science fair being held in Regina, Saskatchewan. Way to go Caitlin and Chloe!
Insights and Sounds April 26
St. Joseph-Scollard Hall annual "Insights and Sounds" will be held Wednesday, April 26. The event will feature a visual art gallery viewing at 6 p.m., and a lineup of performances in music, dance, video production, and drama at 7:00 p.m. in the Bishop Carter Auditorium.
Tickets are $5 at the door.

Bears Drama Advance to OFSSAA
We are pleased to congratulate the cast and crew of “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” who will be moving on to compete at the provincial level May 10th to 13th. An award of Excellence also went to the ensemble for their acting ability! Way to go Bears!

2017/2018 School Calendar Now Available
At the February 28, 2017 NPSC Board meeting, the School Year Calendar was recommended and approved by the Board of Trustees. The school year will begin on Thursday, August 31, 2017 for staff and Tuesday, September 5, 2017 for students. The school year will end on June 29, 2018 for both students and staff. This recommendation has been approved by the Ministry of Education. Please see the attachment below for more information. We would like to thank all parents, community members and staff for their participation.
SJSH Staff Give Back
Friday April 7, 2017 marked the beginning of a new tradition at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School. Staff rallied together to donate food items, prepare a meal, and collect money for The Gathering Place in North Bay. Staff raised over $100 to donate to the Gathering Place and cooked a hearty meal for the Friday evening serving. Thank you for your leadership and stewardship in our community SJSH!
Bears Drama Advance to NOSSA
Congratulations to the SJSH Bears Drama cast who won outstanding production for "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon" at the Sears Drama Festival. Two awards of excellence were also given out to Matthew Gunson and Cecelia Mogan for outstanding acting. Don't miss your chance to see this great performance April 20th for the Regional (NOSSA) Festival, taking place at SJSH. Congratulations!
Senior Girls Win AAA OFFSA Sportsmanship Award
Congratulations to the SJSH Senior Girls volleyball team who won the OFFSA Sportsmanship Award this past March at Georgian college in Barrie. They were picked out of 20 teams that participated at the AAA provincial tournament.
SJSH Celebrates World Autism Day
Students at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall celebrated Autism Awareness Day Tuesday, April, 4. Throughout the day students participated in round table discussions, listened to guest speakers and participated in a question and answer session with students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. Great leadership from our staff and students who continue to promote inclusion and equity at SJSH!
