To recognize National Aboriginal Day, our friends at Mother St. Bride joined the North Bay Indian Friendship Centre for a day of learning and sharing and classes from Our Lady of Sorrows visited Nbisiing secondary school to take part in interactive activities and collaborative group work. To celebrate National Aboriginal Day during the month of June, approximately 100 Grade 6 students also visited Nbisiing Secondary School this past month as part of an annual retreat to share in a day of workshops and a group pow wow.

SJSH Recognized as Ontario EcoSchool

Congratulations to St. Joseph-Scollard Hall who successfully completed a year-long application process to become a certified Gold-Level Ontario EcoSchoolThe S.O.L.E. (S.J.S.H., Outdoor, Leadership, and Environmental Studies) Program, taught by Terry Dubroy, the Science Club, co-led by teacher Jackie Laberge and several staff members took a leadership role in the Ontario EcoSchool application process.

St. Luke student, Alexandra Dech, is representing North Bay in the National Young Citizen’s filmmaker challenge. Alexandra won the Young Citizens Award at the North Bay Heritage Fair for her project about her family's heritage. Her video documents her grandparents' journey from Italy to Canada, featuring interviews with relatives and even a visit to Pier 21 in Halifax. Help Alexandra secure a trip to Ottawa to for the 2017 History Youth Forum by voting for her video. Students from across the country will be vying for a spot at the Forum so let’s help Alexandra share her story! SJSH Students Give Back

SJSH Students Give Back

Congratulations to our SJSH students, who raised over $1000 for the North Bay Food Bank and Toonies for Tummies as part of their annual Battle of the Grades. They also collected over 500 food items for Big Brothers Big Sisters North Bay and donated 2993lbs of clothing to the Canadian Kidney Foundation! Way to go SJSH!

NPSC Participates In Heritage Fair

NPSC Participates In Heritage Fair

Schools across the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board participated in the 2017 Regional Heritage Fair this May. Sixteen NPSC students were recognized with awards of distinction, with Jude Zappala being selected to represent North Bay at the provincial level. Congratulations on all of your hard work, students!
