NPSC Indigenous Education Staff Retreat

The Annual Indigenous Education Staff Retreat took place this October, with teachers from schools across NPSC participating in lessons and workshops to learn and experience indigenous culture. The four-day event included a focus on the Medicine Wheel teachings, Indigenous History of Canada, the impact of Residential Schools, the Walking the Path Program and integrating Indigenous language, culture and perspectives into classroom instruction. Chi-Miigwech to our team of NPSC educators, George Couchie of Nipissing First Nation and our community partners, who facilitated the retreat.

NPSC Mathematics Professional Activity Day:  Focusing on the Fundamentals of  Mathematics and the Pedagogical System

On October 22, 2018, our elementary schools gathered to participate in the NPSC Focusing on the Fundamentals Mathematics Professional Activity Day. The day focused on deepening our understanding of the Focusing on the Fundamentals teaching guide, our NPSC Mathematics Action Plan and the mathematics pedagogical system. We extend our appreciation to all of our school facilitation teams for their leadership and to all of our staff for their participation and engagement as we work together to support our students progress in mathematics.

St. Luke Raises Funds for One Kids Place

Congratulations to St. Luke student council, who raised $425 for One Kids Place! The students organized a pajama and gum day to raise the funds. Thank you to our staff and students who continue to demonstrate leadership and kindness in our community!

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board was pleased to join our partners in education to take part in the 13th Annual Learning Together Conference this October. The Learning Together Conference engages children and their families, building on the ideas and resources organized and offered through the work and collaboration of community partners.

Congratulations to our friends at St. Theresa, who participated in "You Be the Chemist" challenge at Nipissing University. All students were very successful in their efforts. Special congratulations to Liam Kimber and Logan Duchesne who placed in the top 9 and Colin Dreany who placed 1st! Way to go students!
