Schools across Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board celebrated Orange Shirt Day in September. Orange shirt day is an opportunity for staff and students to honour residential school survivors and raise awareness about anti-racism and anti-bullying. The Learning Co-op is offering a new workshop to help women 40 and over increase their essential skills and build their employability skills. The workshop is designed to help learners gain a clearer understanding of the job she wants and how she can get it, given her skills, interests, and life situation.

SJSH Supports Local Food Bank

St. Joseph-Scollard Hall (SJSH) held its annual Fall Food Drive on Thursday, September 21st. This year, staff and students collected nearly 1600lbs of food for the North Bay Food Bank. Congrats, bears, on such an tremendous success and for demonstrating such leadership in our community!

St. Luke Student Secures Spot In Canadian History Youth Forum

Congratulations to St. Luke student, Alexandra Dech, who is headed to Ottawa to represent Ontario in Canada's History Youth Forum this October. Alexandra secured her spot after competing in the National Young Citizen’s Filmmaker Challenge last June. Thank you to everyone who watched, voted and helped spread the word about Alexandra's video. Looking forward to hearing more about this fantastic opportunity!

Learning Co-op Celebrates International Literacy Day

Students in the Learning Co-op program at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board celebrated International Literacy Day through a series of engaging activities and group work, focused on this year’s theme: Living in a Digital World. International Literacy Day is an initiative developed by the United Nations to highlight the importance of literacy and to help raise awareness about modern challenges facing literacy education.
