Tools for Life - Parent Evening

Calling all parents! Parents will learn skills that will allow their child to understand how to calm, listen to others, be alert to body cues, communicate respectfully, and improve social skills through using the Tools for Life HomeSTART program.

Parents will be invited to join students in constructing bird houses with tools and wood.  This activity is an extension of our 'construction' inquiry that we have begun in our classroom

They will be performing short plays, Les trois petits cochons and performing a dance that goes with it.  This has been a part of our French Literacy program and Drama and Dance programs. We will also have our Animal Habitat projects on display for Science.

Having a Simple Machines Science Fair. The middle block is for the school to view and the last block is for the parents.

Grade 6 EFI & Grade 3/4

The older students will be working with and co-teaching the students how to use Spheros and Makey Makeys.

 

JK ENG

During our daily meditation, we will play 'Renew the Promise' for the students.The teacher will encourage students to listen and focus on the meaning of the lyrics while they meditate.   Following the meditation, the teacher will go through the lyrics (printed on chart paper) and prompt students to explain the meaning of the song.

During centres, students will have an opportunity to illustrate a part of the song that has meaning to them, using materials of their choice (e.g. paint, coloured pencils, etc.).

Later in the day, students will engage in a whole-class activity in creating a prayer of promise.

Science Fair displays will be in the for students to view and have Q&A time. The parents are invited to do the same during the Spaghetti Supper.

Parents are welcome in the class. There will be multiple stations available during this time  to explore:

creative exploration, playing with playdough, healthy choices, etc.

JK/SK ENG

Activities will include: a Read Aloud, Look Where I Live! The learning goal is to be able to describe positive contributions to a healthy community.

Parents will be for a Class Song Presentation. Other activities such as creating cards/notes, drama and Religion will centre based.

We are also in charge of the Mass/Celebration  and will email you when I set the day with Father Trevor

Parents are invited to join community partners in celebrating our differences and sharing our similarities with Indigenous Peoples. The evening will provide parents with an opportunity to learn more about Indigenous Communities. Light refreshments will be served.
