St. Luke School is located in the core area of North Bay. St. Luke School is currently an Early French Immersion school offering students from JK to Grade 8 an opportunity to acquire French as a second language within a caring and safe Catholic environment. In 2009 the former St. Joseph and Sacred Heart schools amalgamated to form the new St. Luke School community. Staff students and parents are currently involved in the exciting preliminary stages of their move to a new school opening in September 2011 at 225 Milani Road, North Bay.
Our school provides a nurturing, learning atmosphere where high expectations and individual needs are emphasized. Our dedicated staff works together to provide a wonderful school spirit of which students, teachers, parents, and parish are proud to be a part. It is our aim to provide our students with a Catholic education which will help them to develop spiritually, morally, intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially.
We are equipped with the latest learning technology: computer stations, mobile labs, laptops, Smartboard, kurzweil, and listening centres. Our building also houses a library, a large gymnasium, a running track, an outdoor recreational area with playground equipment and an outdoor basketball court. As well, we are in close proximity to the public library, the theatre, and community parish.
Our school is comprised of approximately 200 students and 25 teaching professionals who offer a variety of teaching methodologies while implementing the new Ontario curriculum. Our staff is involved in ongoing professional development and initiatives of the Ministry of Education.

Community Relations
At St. Luke School, we believe in the development of community relations with our school community. Our facility, houses daycare for the Lindsey Weld Child Care Centre and the Early Years Centre. We recognize and support the importance of this organization in preparing students for entry into the school system. St. Luke School is also the location of the Board's Literacy Partners. Some of the Board's Junior enrichment modules have been hosted at the school along with professional development and in-service sessions for the Board's teaching personnel. Links have been established with St. Joseph - Scollard Hall, our secondary school affiliate, by encouraging students from the high school to assist in the training of our sports teams and in working with individual and groups of students through the high school's co-operative education program. It is hoped that through the talents and enthusiasm of selected high-school students who become actively involved in our school, that the academic and athletic growth of our students will be encouraged and that an awareness of Catholic secondary education will develop. St. Luke School is a practice site for the high school's archery team, one night week for one semester each year. Our doors have also been open to several other community clubs and agencies that request the use of our facilities.
We proudly participate with Nipissing University and Canadore College in sharing our expertice with their education students to help develop competent educators for the future.
The North Bay Police Department is actively involved in the social education of our students. For several years, students in Grade 6 have been involved in the DARE Programs and Wiiding out Drugs. A school liaison officer is also available to make special presentations to individual classes. In the past years, counselors from the North Bay Transition House have presented an anti-violence and social skills enhancement program to our students. We have proudly joined in the presentations offered by the Indian Friendship Centre and the Multicultural Society to make children appreciative of our diverseness as a community.
Catholic School Advisory Council
The school council is an advisory body to the principal and the School Board. The Council provides advice from an community perspective.
All meetings are open to the public. The role of the council is to be an advisory body to the Principal and to help establish and maintain good communication between the school, parents and community for the cause of education.

How We Live Our Catholic Faith
Our Belief
As a faith community, we aspire to have our students develop a way of living that embodies the teachings of Jesus Christ. Through prayer and modeling we endeavor to integrate our faith into the day to day curriculum and social fabric of our school community.
Our Partners
Our chaplain and parish priest are invited to visit the school regularly and to participate in the Eucharistic celebrations and the Liturgies of the Word. These liturgical celebrations occur both in individual classrooms as well as with the entire school community. We welcome the participation and partnership with our parish community, local Knights of Columbus and Catholic Women's League as well.
Demonstrating Our Faith
Our school supports many charitable endeavors including: The Food Drive, Santa Fund, Jump Rope For Heart, MS Read-a-thon, Unicef, Kid's Helping Kids, The Soup Kitchen, Patrick 4 Life, The Holy Childhood Organization. Masses are celebrated regularly and each classroom takes on the responsibility of planning and organizing at least one liturgical celebration per month. We believe that a strong link between church, home, and school best serves our children to grow in faith and to develop spiritually to their full potential.
