Learning at Our School

Academic Program

St. Theresa school houses both as regular English program and an early French Immersion program.

Both our junior and senior kindergarten students attend school all day daily. The program consists of 50% French and 50% English instruction for the early French Immersion program. Our English program students receive Core French beginning in Junior Kindergarten.

The implementation of the Ready to Learn program assists the kindergarten teachers to highlight individual student's areas of strengths and needs by the end of junior kindergarten. The student's program may then be modified to meet their needs. The Kindergarten Ministry of Education document and the Born of the Spirit program direct the curriculum content.

In the Early French Immersion program, French is the exclusive language of instruction in Grades One and Two except for the Religion and Family Life programs. Three hundred minutes per week of English language instruction begins in grade three.

Participation in outdoor physical education classes is enhanced by gymnastics lessons at a North Bay Club. Outdoor summer games are held at the field located beside our school.

Classroom Resource Teacher

Children who require resource assistance are integrated within the regular classroom. The resources teacher may work directly with the children or assists the teacher in providing programming for the children.
