Superintendent of Education Jody Weller Receives Nelson Excellence in Leadership Award
The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board extends its warm congratulations to Jody Weller, Superintendent of Education, on being named the recipient of the
2025 Nelson Excellence in Leadership Award by the Ontario Catholic Supervisory Officers' Association (OCSOA)!
Nominated by her peers, this award recognition highlights Ms. Weller’s exemplary contributions to Indigenous Education at the local, provincial, and national levels.
The
Nelson Excellence in Leadership Award Program is based on three premises:
- dedication and enthusiasm of administrators who guide children’s educational experiences;
- the scope and quality of children’s educational experiences through the character of the school system’s programs; and
- the creation of environments which effectively promote children’s attitudes toward learning and their perceptions of themselves as lifelong learners.
This particular award is jointly sponsored by Nelson Canada and the Canadian Association for School System Administrators (CASSA). Affiliate award recipients are recognized at the annual CASSA conference. The award was previously known as the XEROX Canada EXL Award from 2002 to 2023.
The announcement was made at the Ontario Catholic Supervisory Officer Association Board of Directors meeting held recently, following the report from the Awards Chair.

The Ontario Catholic Supervisory Officers' Association is pleased to share the following individuals who will be honoured at their May 2025 Conference and AGM in Windsor, Ontario. The OCSOA Board of Directors extends its sincere gratitude to all those who submitted nominations for consideration. As always, selecting award recipients is never an easy task! The award recipients for 2025 are:
- B.E. Nelligan Award – Linda Staudt, former Director for Education for the London District Catholic School Board
- Distinguished Leadership Award – David D' Santis, Director of Education for the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board
- The CASSA EXL Award, now renamed the Nelson Excellence in Leadership Award – Jody Weller, Superintendent of Education for the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board
A detailed recognition of their exceptional contributions to Catholic Education will be shared at the Awards Dinner on May 15, 2025 in Windsor. This event will also honour all Ontario Catholic Directors and Superintendents who are retiring, along with the three distinguished award winners.
