Established in the 2024-2025 school year by the NPSC Board of Trustees, the Barbara McCool Leadership Award in Special Education honours educators who exemplify the values that Barbara championed - strong advocacy, community leadership, and a deep commitment to Special Education.
In this inaugural year, the Board is thrilled to celebrate educators nominated by their peers for their:
- Outstanding commitment to Special Education and to supporting the unique needs of students in Catholic education
- Exemplary advocacy for students on their Catholic education journey
- Innovative leadership in Special Education
We are extremely proud to announce that the recipients of the Barbara McCool Leadership Award in Special Education for the 2024-2025 school year are:
- Theresa Bitonti - NPSC Special Education Coordinator
- Elizabeth Carreiro - Principal, St. Hubert Catholic Elementary School
- Manon Guénette - Teacher, St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School
We will recognize these recipients through a special Mass and presentation ceremony, alongside the recipients of the NPSC Director of Education Awards of Excellence in Catholic Education, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in the St. Lawrence Chapel at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall. We extend a warm invitation for all to join us to celebrate these outstanding members of our NPSC community!
