Summer Registration Information

Elementary schools are now closed for the summer months. If you require assistance regarding your child's transportation, registration or for new registrations, please contact the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board's summer registration office at 705-494-3888. Elementary school offices will be reopening August 28, 2017. St. Joseph-Scollard Hall will remain open through the summer months. All transportation and registration questions can be directed to student services at 705-494-8600 ext 3234. We wish you and your family a safe and happy summer.

NPSC Approves 2017-2018 Budget

At its regular meeting held June 27, 2017, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) approved its 2017-2018 budget for submission to the Ministry of Education. The budget focuses on programs and services that directly benefit students and is compliant with Ministry of Education balanced budget legislation.

National Aboriginal Day

To recognize National Aboriginal Day, our friends at Mother St. Bride joined the North Bay Indian Friendship Centre for a day of learning and sharing. Classes from Our Lady of Sorrows visited Nbisiing secondary school to take part in interactive activities and collaborative group work. To celebrate National Aboriginal Day during the month of June, approximately 100 Grade 6 students also visited Nbisiing Secondary School this past month as part of an annual retreat to share in a day of workshops and a group pow wow.

SJSH Recognized as Ontario EcoSchool

Congratulations to St. Joseph-Scollard Hall who successfully completed a year-long application process to become a certified Gold-Level Ontario EcoSchool. The S.O.L.E. (S.J.S.H., Outdoor, Leadership, and Environmental Studies) Program, taught by Terry Dubroy, the Science Club, co-led by teacher Jackie Laberge and several staff members took a leadership role in the Ontario EcoSchool application process.

St. Luke student, Alexandra Dech, is representing North Bay in the National Young Citizen’s filmmaker challenge. Alexandra won the Young Citizens Award at the North Bay Heritage Fair for her project about her family's heritage. Her video documents her grandparents' journey from Italy to Canada, featuring interviews with relatives and even a visit to Pier 21 in Halifax.
