NPSC Celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day with a variety of activities in schools across our district. Our Lady of Sorrows hosted a day of learning and celebrating through a series of engaging workshops and a pow wow in the afternoon. Other schools participated in activities such as mask making, pow wows, medicine wheel teachings and much more. Miigwetch to all of our staff, students, volunteers and community partners for providing such rich learning opportunities for our students!

The Ontario Ecoschoo Program empowers students to have a positive impact on their school communities, by leading environmental projects and sharing important knowledge with their peers. Congratulations to Vincent Palangio, who won the first place medallion for the Science on the Wall-Primary Award at the North Bay Regional Science Fair this year. As part of the class unit on Matter: Solids, Liquids and Gases, Vincent used household ingredients to cause an exothermic reaction. He used the science and technology problem-solving steps when he encountered challenges to his hypotheses. Way to go Vincent!
