The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) recently published its 2024-2025 assessment results.
Our EQAO results reflect the achievements of participating students across the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) in the following provincial assessments:
- Grade 3 Reading, Writing, and Math
- Grade 6 Reading, Writing, and Math
- Grade 9 Math
- Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT)
We are proud to report gains in student achievement across seven of the eight assessment categories compared to last year's EQAO results, reflecting continued growth in student learning and the focused instruction of our educators.
"This year's EQAO results provide cause for celebration and reveal new opportunities. We see notable gains in Primary Mathematics, Junior Reading results above the provincial average, and a continued, strong student success rate on the OSSLT, which is a graduation requirement. We are inspired by the dedication of our educators and students," said Paula Mann, Director of Education.
"These achievements energize us, yet our commitment to continuous improvement remains unwavering. By deepening our focus on mathematics and literacy, and investing in research-based strategies and curriculum-aligned professional development for our educators, we will continue to ensure every learner has the tools and support required to reach their full potential—today and in the future."
The data provided by EQAO plays an important role in identifying trends that inform targeted strategies to support student learning at NPSC. Our school teams use EQAO assessment results alongside multiple other data sources and a variety of assessment tools to guide intentional instruction that is tailored to meet the unique needs of our students and the development of our Student Achievement Action Plans.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our staff for their dedication and focused efforts in ensuring our students have the best opportunities to experience success and reach their full potential. We also thank our families for their partnership in nurturing learners who are confident, curious, and prepared to thrive both academically and personally. Together, we will continue to support and inspire every student on their learning journey.
