Celebrating Catholic Education Week 2026 - Pilgrims of Hope: On the Path to Holiness
“As God who called you is holy, be holy yourselves.” (1 Peter 1:15-16)
From May 3-8, 2026, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) proudly joins the Catholic community of Ontario in celebrating Catholic Education Week.
This year’s theme, Pilgrims of Hope: On the Path to Holiness, reminds us that our faith is a lifelong journey. Just like a pilgrimage, the time students spend learning in our classrooms and serving in our communities is marked by discovery, growth, and a shared mission to reflect God’s love in everything we do.
Throughout the 2025-2026 school year, our Catholic schools have been united by a powerful symbol of our faith. As part of our NPSC Pastoral Year of Faith, our 8-foot cross has travelled from school to school, inviting students and staff to continue their journeys as “Pilgrims of Hope on the Path to Holiness.”
The video below, featuring reflections and moments from our system-wide Pilgrimage of the Cross in October 2025, captures the spirit of the many pilgrimages in which each of our Catholic schools has engaged throughout the year.
Throughout the week, our students and staff will be immersed in a variety of events and activities designed to reflect this year’s theme and celebrate the incredible gift of publicly funded Catholic education in our province. From Masses and liturgies to creative projects and moments of intentional reflection, each activity will provide a meaningful forum for our Catholic school communities to deepen their faith and strengthen their understanding of central Catholic themes.
The five subthemes of Catholic Education Week, which will further guide our students’ learning, are:
- Monday: Peace be with you
- Tuesday: God loves you
- Wednesday: Christ saves you
- Thursday: The Holy Spirit lives in you
- Friday: Together on the journey
