Ministry of Education Invests $9.4M in St. Theresa School and Child Care Centre Expansion

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) is excited to share that the Ministry of Education is investing $9.4 million in a new addition at St. Theresa Catholic Elementary School, including a renewed child care centre. The announcement was made this morning by MPP Vic Fedeli at the school in Callander.

This funding will support the creation of additional learning spaces to accommodate the school's growing population and better support students attending St. Theresa, which serves families from the Municipality of Callander, as well as areas located to the east and south of North Bay.

The project will feature modern, accessible facilities that will add 92 new pupil spaces and 53 new licensed child care spaces, expanding the existing school facility.

"We are deeply grateful to Minister of Education Paul Calandra and MPP Vic Fedeli for graciously investing in St. Theresa School. This reflects the growth our community has experienced over time and our shared partnership in providing modern and inclusive Catholic learning centres of excellence where students will grow and thrive for generations to come. The expansion of the child care centre will create additional spaces, enhance existing programming, and ensure families continue to have access to safe, nurturing environments for their children, beginning with early learning in their community," said Paula Mann, Director of Education at NPSC.

"We are thrilled that students will have access to updated classrooms and that families in our community will benefit from increased on-site child care," said Shawn Fitzsimmons, Chair of the Board.

NPSC and the Ministry of Education will continue to work closely together as this exciting project moves forward, and planning and design work advances. The Board is committed to keeping families and our community informed and will share regular updates as the project progresses.

MPP Fedeli made the funding announcement this morning in the presence of St. Theresa students and staff, as well as representatives from NPSC, St. Theresa's Parent Catholic School Advisory Council, and the District of Parry Sound Social Services Administration Board.
