Talking to Children and Youth About COVID-19

As caring adults in students’ lives, we can help young people by being a steady calming influence, providing developmentally-appropriate and factual information about our local situation, and helping students to feel some level of control. Fostering supportive relationships with caring adults and encouraging children to talk about their feelings can greatly benefit a child who may be feeling distress.

NPSC Playgrounds and Amenities Closed Until Further Notice

Please be advised that in light of the recommendations made by the provincial government as well as the Chief Medical Officer of Health, effective immediately and until further notice all access to Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board outdoor recreational amenities, including sports fields and outdoor play structures, is strictly prohibited. These measures have been put into effect to protect the health and safety of our community by reducing potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus. We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

On Friday, March 20, 2020 the Ministry of Education launched the first phase of a new online portal called Learn at Home that will provide resources for families so students can continue their education while schools are closed due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. EQAO Assessment Update

Please be advised the Ontario Ministry of Education has announced that all EQAO assessments will be canceled for the remainder of this school year. We appreciate the work done to prepare for these assessments by EQAO and school board staff. The literacy graduation requirement (OSSLT) for students who are graduating in the 2019-20 school year has been waived.

Board Office Closed March 19-April 5, 2020

Following the actions taken to limit the spread of COVID-19 set forth by the Prime Minister of Canada and the Premier of Ontario, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board central office will be closing, effective 4:30pm on March 18, 2020. Staff will continue to be available during the closure, working remotely to continue services and support our board community during these challenging times.
