Purpose

At the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board, we believe that open and ongoing communication with families is key to supporting student success and well-being. We value the role of our parents as the first educators of their children and our shared responsibility in fostering their success. By working together and keeping the lines of communication clear, we create a strong support system that helps every child reach their full potential.

Process

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to bring inquiries regarding their child’s education using the following protocol. Knowing whom to contact at your child's school (or the Board Office) is important in order to deal effectively with a concern.

• First: Contact your child's teacher. Most situations are resolved at this level. Throughout the school year, take advantage of opportunities to talk with your child's teacher(s).

• Next: Contact the school's Principal or appropriate Vice-Principal if a solution is not reached with the teacher.

• Then: Contact the Superintendent of Education if the situation is still not resolved.

• Finally: Contact the Director of Education if the Superintendent of Education is unable to resolve a concern. You may also contact the Board Trustee who represents your area if a concern remains unresolved.

Timelines and Report Back

Parents can expect to receive acknowledgement of their inquiry/concern within 2 business days. If a response cannot be fully provided within 5 business days, parents will be notified and provided with an estimated date of response.
